  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 0.5 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Decoration

  • green food coloring for decoration
  • purple frosting for decoration
  • optional fondant decorations for witch accessories

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two nine-inch round cake pans.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Mix until smooth.
  • Slowly stir in the boiling water to create a thin batter.

Baking

  • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  • Check for doneness with a toothpick that comes out clean.
  • Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Assembly

  • Once cooled, place one layer on a serving plate and frost with purple frosting.
  • Stack the second layer on top and frost the entire cake.
  • Decorate with green food coloring, purple frosting, and fondant decorations.
