Puff Pastry Ingredients

  • 1 sheet Puff pastry, thawed Ensure fully thawed before rolling
  • 1/4 cup Fruit preserves (such as strawberry or raspberry) Use your favorite flavor for filling
  • 1 large Egg, beaten For egg wash
  • Powdered sugar Powdered sugar for dusting Optional for elegant finish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until it's smooth.
  • Cut out heart shapes using a cookie cutter, ensuring to have an even number.

Assembly

  • Place half of the cut-out heart shapes on the prepared baking sheet with intentional spacing.
  • Add a small dollop of fruit preserves to the center of each heart, leaving a tiny border around the edges.
  • Brush the edges of the hearts with the beaten egg.
  • Top each with another heart shape and gently press the edges together.
  • Crimp the edges with a fork for decoration.

Baking

  • Brush the tops of the heart pastries with the remaining egg wash and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  • Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  • Allow to cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar.
