Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup Buttermilk Can substitute with milk mixed with a tablespoon of vinegar.
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Melted butter
  • a few drops Red food coloring Optional for festive color.

Toppings

  • to taste Heart-shaped sprinkles
  • to taste Maple syrup

Preparation

  • Whisk together all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  • In another bowl, combine buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and red food coloring.

Mixing

  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.

Cooking

  • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it.
  • Scoop approximately one quarter cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake.
  • Cook until bubbles form on the surface and then flip to golden brown.

Serving

  • Serve warm, decorated with heart-shaped sprinkles and a drizzle of maple syrup.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature ingredients and avoid over-mixing the batter. If you wish to make them gluten-free, substitute with a gluten-free flour blend.
