Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup softened butter Ensure it is at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour Sifted for better texture
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt

For the Icing

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg white Can substitute with meringue powder
  • 1 tablespoon water Add more for desired consistency
  • optional food coloring For vibrant icing colors

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  • Blend in the eggs and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  • Gradually add the flour, baking powder, and salt, mixing until just combined.
  • Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Baking

  • Lightly flour your countertop and roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thick.
  • Cut out shapes using cookie cutters and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 7 to 10 minutes until golden brown.

Icing

  • In a separate bowl, combine powdered sugar, egg white, and water to create icing.
  • Decorate cooled cookies with the icing and allow them to dry completely.

Notes

For softer cookies, ensure room temperature butter is used. Use more flour on the surface while rolling dough. If icing is too thin, add more powdered sugar.
