Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the pure vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.

Baking

  • Roll out the dough to ¼-inch thickness on a floured surface.
  • Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut out cookies and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  • Bake for about 10 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow cookies to cool on a wire rack.

Icing

  • Prepare icing by mixing powdered sugar with water and food coloring until reaching desired consistency.
  • Decorate cooled cookies with icing and sprinkles as desired.

Notes

Chilling the dough helps maintain its shape while baking. Use different food colors and sprinkles to customize visuals.
