  • 2 cans cans of green beans, drained Alternatively, use 4 cups of fresh green beans, trimmed and blanched.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions, divided
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional) Adds creaminess and flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix gently.
  • If using, fold in the shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Pour the mixture into a 1.5-quart casserole dish and spread it evenly.
  • Sprinkle half of the crispy fried onions over the top.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, until the mixture is bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle the remaining crispy fried onions on top.
  • Return to the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes until the onions are golden brown.

Serving

  • Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute Greek yogurt for cream of mushroom soup. For variations, try using asparagus or adding crumbled bacon.
