Ingredients
  

Dough ingredients

  • 500 grams all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 300 milliliters warm water Helps to activate the yeast.
  • 50 milliliters olive oil

Topping ingredients

  • 100 grams sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon molasses For dipping solution.
  • 100 milliliters water For dipping solution.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast.
  • Gradually add warm water and olive oil, stirring until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  • Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise for 1 hour until it doubles in size.

Shaping

  • Preheat the oven to 220°C (430°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down, divide it into 12 balls.
  • Roll each ball into a long rope and twist the ends together to form a circle.

Dipping and Baking

  • In a separate bowl, mix molasses and water.
  • Carefully dip each bagel into the mixture and then roll in sesame seeds.
  • Place the bagels on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Serving

  • Let bagels cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them with cream cheese or fresh herbs.

Notes

For an added flavor, consider mixing spices like za’atar with the sesame seeds. Use quality ingredients for the best results.
