Ingredients
  

For the Strawberries

  • 1 pound fresh strawberries sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

For the Biscuits

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour spooned & leveled
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar optional, for sweetness
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 2/3 cup whole milk cold

For the Whipped Cream

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Prepare the Strawberries

  • In a medium bowl, mix sliced strawberries with 1/4 cup sugar.
  • Stir well and let sit for at least 30 minutes to release natural juices.

Make the Biscuits

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  • Cut in cold butter with a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture looks crumbly.
  • Pour in cold milk and gently stir until dough forms.
  • Turn dough onto a floured surface, roll to about 3/4-inch thickness, and cut into rounds.
  • Place on a baking sheet and bake for 15–18 minutes, until golden brown.

Whip the Cream

  • In a chilled bowl, beat heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  • Keep chilled until ready to use.

Assemble the Shortcakes

  • Slice biscuits in half horizontally.
  • Spoon strawberries with syrup over the bottom half.
  • Add a generous dollop of whipped cream.
  • Place the top biscuit half on and garnish with extra strawberries.
