  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and baking powder until combined.
  • In a larger bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the butter and sugar mixture.
  • Add green food coloring and mix until the color is uniform.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, allowing space for expansion.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  • Allow cookies to cool before decorating.

Notes

For optimal freshness, cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to five days. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to two weeks or freeze for three months. Chilling the dough before baking may prevent cookies from spreading too much.
