  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs

Frosting

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two nine-inch round cake pans.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Mixing Ingredients

  • In another bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.

Baking

  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans, smoothing the tops.
  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting and Serving

  • Frost with your favorite frosting and enjoy the moment.

Notes

For better mixing, use room temperature ingredients. Avoid overmixing after adding the flour to achieve a tender crumb.
