  • 1 cup barbecue sauce Homemade recommended for unique flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika Provides depth and smoky flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • optional fresh parsley for garnish

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine barbecue sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Add chicken drumsticks to the bowl and ensure each one is evenly coated with the sauce.

Cooking

  • Transfer the coated drumsticks to a crockpot. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Preheat the broiler when the cooking time is nearing its end.
  • Carefully arrange cooked drumsticks on a baking sheet and brush with additional barbecue sauce.
  • Broil for 5 to 7 minutes, turning halfway through, until the glaze caramelizes.

Serving

  • Serve warm, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For a tangy twist, substitute barbecue sauce with spicy mango or peach barbecue sauce. Chicken thighs can be used for a quicker cook time.
