Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • optional green food coloring for a vibrant hue

For Decoration

  • to taste icing for decoration
  • to taste sprinkles optional for decoration

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until fully combined.
  • In another bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg, vanilla extract, almond extract, and green food coloring. Mix until combined.
  • Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just blended.
  • Dust your countertop with flour and roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Use a shamrock cookie cutter to cut out shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Baking

  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges are slightly golden.
  • Let the cookies cool on a wire rack before decorating with icing and sprinkles.

Notes

For the best results, chill the cookie dough for about 30 minutes after mixing to help the cookies retain their shape. Use high-quality butter for improved flavor.
