Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 each egg for egg wash
  • sweet or savory fillings (e.g., chocolate, jam, cheese, spinach) choose according to preference
  • for dusting as needed flour to prevent dough from sticking
  • optional as needed sugar for sweet variations

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C).
  • Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until smooth.
  • Cut the pastry into triangles, ensuring each one is well defined.
  • Add your chosen filling to the center of each triangle.
  • Fold the top point down to the bottom edge to form a tree shape and seal the edges firmly.
  • Brush each tree with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  • Place the trees on a lined baking sheet, spreading them out for air circulation.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 to 20 minutes until golden and flaky.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Pressing the edges firmly helps prevent fillings from leaking during baking. If the pastry feels too warm while rolling, chill it in the refrigerator briefly.
