  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter Use high-quality butter for best flavor
  • 1 cup heavy cream Can substitute with half-and-half for a lighter version
  • to taste salt Essential for bringing out flavor
  • to taste freshly cracked pepper

Preparation

  • Peel and cut the potatoes into evenly sized chunks.
  • Place the potatoes in a pot of cold salted water and bring to a boil.
  • Cook for about fifteen to twenty minutes until fork-tender.
  • Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
  • Add the butter and heavy cream, then mash until smooth.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve warm.

Notes

If mashed potatoes feel too stiff, add a little more cream or butter while mashing to achieve desired consistency. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-5 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
