Ingredients
  

Main ingredients

  • 1 package OREO cookies For a total of about 36-40 cookies.
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened Make sure it's at room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 16 ounces melting chocolate or candy melts Can be milk, dark, or white chocolate.

Optional toppings

  • as needed colored sprinkles For decoration.
  • as needed extra crushed OREO crumbs For decoration.
  • as needed finely chopped nuts Optional for texture.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Process one package of OREO cookies until they reach a uniform, sand-like consistency.
  • Transfer the Oreo crumbs to a large mixing bowl.
  • Gently incorporate the softened cream cheese into the Oreo crumbs until a thick, pliable dough forms.
  • Scoop out portions of the mixture and roll them into smooth, round balls.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place each ball on it, leaving small gaps in between.
  • Chill the balls in the refrigerator for at least thirty minutes or the freezer for about fifteen minutes.

Coating

  • Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in thirty-second intervals until smooth.
  • Dip each chilled ball into the melted chocolate, letting excess drip off.
  • Sprinkle with fun toppings while the chocolate is still wet.
  • Return the coated cake balls to the baking sheet and chill again to set the chocolate.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks and can be frozen for one to two months before decorating.
