  • 8 slices slices of bread Use any variety, such as sourdough or white.
  • 4 ounces cheese (sharp cheddar or American) Feel free to mix different cheeses for added flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons butter For grilling.

For Dipping

  • 2 cups tomato soup Warm for dipping.

Preparation

  • Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out heart shapes from the slices of bread until none remain.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little butter, letting it melt until bubbly.
  • Place a heart-shaped slice of bread in the skillet and add cheese on top, covering it with another heart-shaped slice.
  • Grill until the bottom is golden brown and fragrant, then flip and grill the other side until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy.
  • Remove from the skillet and serve with a side of warm tomato soup for dipping.

Notes

Consider adding crispy bacon or fresh spinach for extra flavor. You can also try mixing different cheeses or adding fruit preserves for a unique twist.
