Ingredients
  

For the Sandwiches

  • 4 slices slices of bread Use day-old bread for added crunch
  • 2 tablespoons butter Softened for easy spreading
  • 1 cup cheese (mixed varieties) Sharp cheddar and mozzarella work best

For Serving

  • 1 bowl creamy tomato soup For dipping

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut the bread into heart shapes.
  • Butter one side of each piece of bread generously.
  • Place cheese between two pieces of buttered bread, buttered sides facing out.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat until warm.
  • Grill the sandwiches for 2 to 4 minutes on one side until golden and cheese is melted.
  • Flip and grill the other side until evenly toasted.
  • Serve alongside a bowl of creamy tomato soup for dipping.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze wrapped sandwiches for up to 1 month.
