Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs Add one at a time
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Use real vanilla extract for best flavor
  • 2 cups powdered sugar For the frosting
  • 2 tablespoons milk Add more for desired consistency

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for even baking.
  • Line baking sheets with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Mixing Dough

  • In a bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a separate large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Chill the dough covered in plastic wrap in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Baking

  • Use a cookie scoop to portion the dough onto the prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Frosting

  • While cookies cool, prepare the icing by beating powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Spread icing over cooled cookies and add festive sprinkles.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container for up to one week. For longer storage, freeze with parchment paper between layers.
