Main Ingredients

  • 1 package frozen tater tots Follow package instructions for cooking.
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese Shredded, or any cheese that melts well.
  • 1/2 cup bacon bits Savory, for topping.
  • 1/2 cup sour cream For topping.
  • 1/4 cup green onions Chopped, for garnish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven according to tater tots package instructions.
  • Spread the tater tots evenly on a baking sheet.
  • Cook the tater tots until crispy and golden brown, approximately 25 minutes.

Topping and Baking

  • Remove the crispy tater tots from the oven and sprinkle cheese over them.
  • Add bacon bits atop the cheese.
  • Return to the oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly, approximately 5 to 7 minutes.

Serving

  • Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly.
  • Top each tot with a spoonful of sour cream.
  • Sprinkle with fresh chopped green onions.
  • Serve immediately while still crisp.

Notes

If cheese hasn't melted evenly, you can broil the dish for a minute or two, watching closely to prevent burning.
