  • 2 cans diced tomatoes, 14.5 ounces each
  • 1 can tomato sauce, 15 ounces

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat until it shimmers. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until soft and translucent.

Cooking

  • Add the ground beef or Italian sausage to the pan, cooking until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in the diced tomatoes and tomato sauce. Add the Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  • Fold in the cooked spaghetti, tossing to coat well with the sauce.

Serving

  • Serve hot, garnished with grated parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
