  • 2.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon almond extract Can be replaced with vanilla extract.
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

For the buttercream frosting

  • 1 batch buttercream frosting Add food coloring as desired.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  • In another bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  • Gradually blend in the dry ingredients to form a soft dough.
  • Roll rounded teaspoonfuls into balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Flatten each ball lightly with the bottom of a glass and add sprinkles if desired.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes until golden.
  • Allow cookies to cool on wire racks.

Frosting

  • Prepare buttercream frosting, adding food coloring if desired.
  • Once cookies are cool, frost generously and enjoy.

Notes

Chilling the dough before rolling can prevent over-spreading in the oven. Use fresh ingredients for best results.
