  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened Can be substituted with coconut oil for dairy-free.
  • 2 large eggs Use room temperature for better mixing.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract High-quality extract will enhance flavor.

Icing Ingredients

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 0.25 cups milk
  • as needed food coloring Add in drops for desired colors.
  • as needed edible glitter For additional decoration.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and softened butter until the mixture resembles soft crumbs.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the bowl and stir until a smooth dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface until a firm ball is formed.
  • Roll out the dough to 1/8 inch thick and use cookie cutters to cut out flower shapes.
  • Place cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Baking

  • Bake cookies for about 12 minutes or until slightly golden around the edges.

Decorating

  • In a separate bowl, whisk powdered sugar and milk until smooth and glossy.
  • Divide the icing into small bowls and add food coloring, mixing well.
  • Fill a piping bag with the colored icing and outline the petals of the cookies.
  • After the base color dries, add depth with additional colors using a brush or fine tip.
  • Sprinkle with edible glitter or colored sugar for decoration.

Serving

  • Serve the cookies at gatherings or pack in decorative boxes as gifts.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days. For longer storage, refrigerate or freeze.
