  • 5 cans cut green beans, drained
  • 8 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled Quality bacon is important for flavor.
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar Can use light or dark.
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crisp, then crumble and set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth.
  • In a 9x13 inch baking dish, layer the drained green beans. Pour the sauce over the beans and gently toss to coat.
  • Sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the top.

Baking

  • Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, until bubbly and slightly thickened.

Notes

For a healthier option, substitute turkey bacon. Fresh green beans can also be used for better texture. Leftovers keep well in the fridge for up to 4 days.
