Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature for best results.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar Light or dark brown sugar can be used.
  • 2 large eggs Beaten one at a time into the mixture.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds aromatic depth.

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour For best texture, use a spoon to measure flour.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

For the Mix-Ins

  • 3 cups rolled oats Provides chewiness.
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips Can substitute with dark or white chocolate.
  • 1 cup chopped nuts Walnuts or pecans are recommended.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  • In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  • Fold in oats, chocolate chips, and nuts.

Baking

  • Using rounded tablespoons, drop dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space for spreading.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow to cool on baking sheets before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

For best flavor, allow cookies to cool slightly before serving. Store cookies in a covered container to maintain freshness.
