  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts optional

Streusel Topping

  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Icing (optional)

  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk extra, if needed

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the egg with the oil until well blended.
  • Mix in the vanilla and sugar, whisking until the sugar has dissolved.
  • Gradually pour in the milk, blending until smooth.
  • Lightly sprinkle in the salt and baking powder, then gradually incorporate the flour.
  • Stir gently to create a tender batter.

Streusel Topping

  • In a separate bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour to make the streusel topping.
  • Mix until crumbly.

Baking

  • Fold in the chopped walnuts (if using) and pour the batter into a greased baking dish.
  • Smooth the top and sprinkle the streusel topping generously over the batter.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean (about 30 minutes).

Notes

Allow ingredients to reach room temperature before mixing for better blending. For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg along with cinnamon.
