  • 2 whole tomatillos, husked and chopped Adds freshness
  • 1-2 whole jalapeños, chopped (seeds removed for less heat) Adjust heat level to taste
  • 0.25 cup fresh cilantro For herbaceous flavor
  • 1 clove garlic (optional) Roasting can enhance flavor
  • 0.5 whole lime, juice For acidity

Preparation

  • Gather all the ingredients.
  • Add sour cream, mayonnaise, buttermilk, ranch seasoning mix, tomatillos, jalapeños, cilantro, garlic, and lime juice into a blender.
  • Blend until smooth and creamy.
  • Taste the dip and adjust seasoning as needed; add buttermilk for a thinner consistency if desired.
  • Chill for at least 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

If the dip is too thick after chilling, blend in more buttermilk, a spoonful at a time. Homemade ranch flavors develop further after a day in the fridge.
