  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup garlic, minced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 0.5 cup shredded cheese (optional) Use cheddar or Swiss for added flavor

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease the casserole dish with butter.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked shredded chicken, minced garlic, and sliced mushrooms.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and milk, mixing until well combined.

Layering

  • Spread the chicken mixture evenly in the bottom of the prepared casserole dish.
  • Layer the mashed potatoes over the chicken mixture, spreading them smoothly across the top.
  • If using, sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Baking

  • Place the casserole in the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until the top is golden.
  • Serve warm and enjoy the delightful flavors.

Notes

This casserole can be made ahead of time and reheated. It also freezes well for up to three months.
