Ingredients
  

For the Broccoli

  • 1 head fresh broccoli Ensure it's firm and bright green.

For the Cheese Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons butter Melted.
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour Use to make a roux.
  • 1 cup milk Whole milk recommended.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or other cheese of choice.
  • salt To taste.
  • pepper To taste.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Wash the broccoli under cool water.
  • Chop the broccoli into bite-sized florets.
  • Steam the broccoli until bright green and tender, about five minutes.

Making the Cheese Sauce

  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until foamy.
  • Whisk in the flour, cooking until golden and fragrant, about one minute.
  • Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens.
  • Remove from heat and add the cheese, stirring until completely melted.

Serving

  • Pour the cheese sauce over the broccoli, mixing until well coated.
  • Season with salt and pepper to enhance flavors.
  • Serve warm.
