  • 4 cups Broccoli florets Fresh broccoli yields the best experience, but frozen can be substituted.
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese For a richer flavor, mix with other cheeses like Monterey Jack or Gruyere.
  • 1 cup Cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.5 cup Milk You can use low-fat milk for a lighter version.
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free version.
  • 0.25 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust according to taste.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a large pot, bring water to a rolling boil and add the broccoli florets. Blanch for 2-3 minutes until vibrant green and tender.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth.
  • Add the blanched broccoli and shredded cheddar cheese to the bowl and mix until coated.

Baking

  • Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish, evenly spreading it out.
  • In a small bowl, mix breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle this mixture over the top of the casserole.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and edges are bubbling.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using sautéed onions or fresh herbs. Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving to improve slice integrity.
