  • 1-2 tablespoons milk For optional glaze.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese with 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1 teaspoon of lemon zest until smooth and creamy.
  • Prepare the berries by gently tossing 1 cup of fresh blueberries with 1 teaspoon of cornstarch and 1 tablespoon of sugar until coating.
  • Unfold the sheets of cold puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and roll each sheet slightly to even it out.
  • Cut each sheet into four squares, making a total of eight pieces.

Assembly

  • Add approximately 1 tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square.
  • Top with 1 to 2 tablespoons of blueberries, then shape the pastries by folding into triangles or pinching corners toward the center.
  • Press the edges with a fork to seal.
  • Brush tops with the egg wash and sprinkle coarse sugar if desired.

Baking

  • Bake for 18-22 minutes until the pastries puff and turn deep golden brown.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5-10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
  • Optional: Whisk together 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1-2 tablespoons milk, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract to create a glaze.
  • Drizzle glaze over warm pastries before serving.

Notes

For best flavor, use high-quality cream cheese. Chilling the pastry and ensuring not to overcrowd them on the baking sheet helps maintain flakiness.
