  • 1 cup whole milk Can use plant-based alternatives for a vegan version.
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions

Baking the Cake

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a large mixing bowl, blend the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about five minutes.
  • Gradually add the eggs one by one, mixing until completely combined.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture alternately with the milk, starting and ending with flour, until well incorporated.
  • Divide the batter evenly into prepared cake pans and smooth out the tops.
  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool completely in their pans for about ten minutes before transferring them to wire racks.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve each slice with a scoop of freshly whipped cream or a drizzle of warm chocolate sauce.
