Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onions until the beef turns golden brown and the onions soften.
  • Add sliced mushrooms and cook until tender.
  • Stir in beef broth, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper.

Assembly and Baking

  • Spread the beef mixture in a baking dish.
  • Top with mashed potatoes and smooth them out.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until heated through and cheese bubbles.

Notes

For a lighter option, you can substitute ground turkey. Allow the casserole to cool slightly before serving for better slicing.
